Opheim, Moudry, Monson claim wins at Mason City Motor Speedway

Joshua Monson won the USRA Hobby Stock main event.

Sunday night’s Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series at Pritchard Family Auto Stores Mason City Motor Speedway saw fierce competition, with Mason City’s Kevin Opheim, Protivin’s Ben Moudry, and Clear Lake’s Joshua Monson taking victories in the USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, and USRA Hobby Stocks features, respectively.

In the USRA Stock Cars feature, Opheim led from the pole to secure the win, holding off Clear Lake’s Chanse Hollatz in second. Fort Dodge’s Myles Michehl finished third, followed by Cresco’s Jason Schlangen in fourth and Mason City’s Travis Shipman in fifth.

The USRA B-Mods feature saw Moudry charge from third to claim the checkered flag. New Richland, Minn., driver Tianna Mithun took second, with Austin, Minn., driver Kaeden Bronner in third, Marshalltown’s Jenae Gustin in fourth, and Fairmont, Minn., driver Klay Beemer in fifth.

In the USRA Hobby Stocks feature, Monson surged from fourth to take the victory. Manly’s Scott Dobel finished second, followed by Britt’s Kolby Goepel in third, Thornton’s Oliver Monson in fourth, and Fort Dodge’s Jeremy Crimmins in fifth.
