Opheim, Bronner, Monson top USRA action in Mason City

Kaeden Bronner won the USRA B-Mod main event.

The Pritchard Family Auto Stores Mason City Motor Speedway hosted a thrilling Sunday evening of racing on Sunday, with the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series drawing fierce competition across three divisions during the Jerry Hejna Memorial presented by Rookies Rockin' Sports Bar, Sevens Restaurant & Steakhouse and TAP'd Tap House & Cocktail Lounge.

In the USRA Stock Car Feature, Kevin Opheim of Mason City charged from seventh to claim the victory. Chanse Hollatz of Clear Lake finished a close second, followed by Brandon Hare of Elma in third. Chance Larson of Welcome, Minn., took fourth, and Todd Staley of Webster City rounded out the top five. Opheim’s bold moves through the field showcased his veteran prowess on his home track.

The USRA B-Mod Feature saw Kaeden Bronner of Austin, Minn., dominate to secure the win. Ben Moudry of Protivin finished second, with Philip Ihde of Decorah taking third. Cole Campbell of Mexico, Mo., claimed fourth, and Trevor Fecht of Allison finished fifth. Bronner’s commanding performance was highlighted by his heat race win, setting the tone for his feature success.

In the USRA Hobby Stock Feature, Oliver Monson of Thornton surged to the victory, holding off Joshua Monson of Clear Lake, who finished second. Kolby Goepel of Britt took third, followed by Parker Anderson of Welcome, Minn., in fourth and Carter Koop of Rockwell in fifth. The Monsons’ one-two finish thrilled the local crowd.
