Iron Man action cut short, creates Sunday doubleheader in Mason City
The Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge built by Medieval Chassis was cut short by rain just prior to the feature races Thursday night at the Mason City Motor Speedway.
Those main event will be completed this Sunday, June 21, to kick off a complete program of summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action at the all-new 1/3-mile action track at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.
Prior to the downpour, the Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks completed their main event with Scott Dobel of Manly taking the win over Derek Willert of Marble Rock. Cresco’s Chris Hovden and Scott Spilde were third and fourth, respectively, and Jeremy Crimmins of Fort Dodge finished fifth.
Scott Dobel won the Mensink Racing Products USA Hobby Stock main event.
USRA Tuner action saw Ryan Bryant of Mason City get the win over Devon Jones of Clear Lake. Marshalltown’s John Gill was third and Matt Oberhelman of Fort Dodge claimed the fourth spot.
In addition to the pair of bonus feature races for the Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge, the Mason City Motor Speedway will have a Father's Day Special this Sunday with racing at 6 p.m.
The newly-configured high-banked 1/3-mile clay oval is a 1/3-mile clay oval non-stop action track located 5.1 miles east of I-35 at exit 194 on SR 122 (at the North Iowa Fairgrounds).
